Wall of Wind, The Big Daddy of Wind Machines Blows Stuff & Minds

Florida International University engineers have created the big daddy of all the wind machines, a simulator that can mimic the category 5 Saffir–Simpson Hurricane. The 15 foot machine is capable of generating wind speeds of about 157 mph. Engineers had first developed a prototype of the machine nearly 7 years ago. The Wall of Wind (WoW) comprises of 12 electric motor-fan units that are controlled by two variable frequency drives (VFDs). The VFDs allow generation of variable wind speeds required for testing purpose. We have a video of the Wall of Wind, take a look at it and share your comments.
