MillionShort Removes Top X Web Sites From Search Results

MillionShort.com founder Sanjay Arora thought of going places where normal people never go. The web that we know is just a few thousand websites that the modern search engines love and these top websites continue to make it to your search results often. How'd the Internet look if the top X websites did not exist and the Internet that we know started from (X+1)st website? MillionShort lets you explore that unseen world with its innovative web search engine. The search service lets you choose how many top websites you want to remove from the web while performing searches on the Internet. The options are a million, 100k, 10k, 1k, 100 websites or perform a regular search.

We loved playing around with the searches and ask you to give it a shot. In fact, the search service has launched a web search results comparison website similar to Microsoft's BingItOn, called MillionShortItOn. It lets you search for any keywords and then presents you with the results in two panes - from Google and from MillionShort; but doesn't tell you upfront which is which. You're then asked to pick up left or right pane depending on which gave you better results. Once you're through with 3 runs with different keywords, the service will tell you which search engine you picked up in the 3 runs. We tried and it was MillionShort - Draw - Draw for us; indicating we picked up MillionShort. That's is quite impressive given that BingItOn told us it was all the way Google that we loved.

How does MillionShort remove X websites from the searches? Sanjay says it uses a combination of Bing Searches along with their own crawled data. Expect the searches on MillionShort get better over time as it crawls more websites.
