LAY OFF's - CISCO is laying off 2% employee strength

CISCO is all set to lay off 1,300+ associates, after stating that growing economic conditions and uncertainty is making it tougher to retain the associates by balancing the profits. Per Cisco, shedding jobs would simplify their operations.

The laying off decision was announced on Monday and would be around 2 per cent of Cisco's overall strength (65K)

It was yesterday only, when CISCO has announced that they have done a multi billion take over (One of their biggest deal of all time - NDS Take over), and now shedding their own associates. How Bizarre is this?

Do we have anyone from CISCO that can comment more on this?
