    Any such system ha sto be light weight (as it will reduce pay load), aerodynamically designed (to minimise drag) and not introduce any backpressure ( to avoid reducing engine efficiency).
    Probably not worth the effort.

    which means that there wouldn't be much of waste gases coming out ?

    Not that. There is a lot of gas coming out. Lot of heat as well. However, recovery is not profitable at least as of now. Since the ambient is quite cold, probably a Peltier effect tail pipe can harvest some energy.
