Techkriti 2011 Event Highlights - IIT Kanpur

IIT Kanpur presents its annual technology and entrepreneurship festival – Techkriti 2011 this February from 17th to 20th. The main attractions among the events at Techkriti 2011 will be:

1. Wild Soccer Championship (WSC)

It would be a first of its kind inter collegiate event where colleges from all across the country will battle against each other for the WSC Trophy.

A team of 3 bots will represent each college namely: a goalkeeper, a defender and an attacker.

The robots not only have to score goals, but will also rip apart the opponent’s robot in Robowars fashion. Only the maximum number of goals would be the winning criterion.

2. International Online Programming Contest (IOPC)

It is the biggest student conducted programming contest in Asia with participation from across the world. The event involves intense programming battle for a daylong. Google sponsors IOPC this year!

3. Indian Open Rubik's Cube (IORC)

It is the biggest Rubik's Cubing event in India affiliated with the World Cubing Association (WCA). The event is highly competitive with world's fastest cubers battling against each other for the prizes.

4. Take-Off

It is a conglomeration of unique aero-modeling events that are held on IIT Kanpur's very own airstrip! From RC Plane flying to Ornithopter design, Take-Off has it all. Boeing Corporation sponsors the event.

5. Grand Challenges in Science and Entrepreneurship (GCOSE)

It is the talks and exhibition section of Techkriti. This year, Techkriti will feature some of the best speakers from across the world like -

Dr. Vladimir Voevodsky (Field's Medalist), Mr. Bruce Melnick (Former Astronaut, NASA), Dr. Sidney Altman (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry), William Albert Allard (World renowned photographer, National Geographic), Microsoft Surface and Project Natal, World's most advanced Social Robot PR2, USA, NPCIL, Rural Innovation Exhibition from National Innovation Foundation and India Innovators Forum inviting the most flamboyant of Indian young entrepreneurs.

6. Episteme - The Quizzing Event

Episteme promises to feature some of the wackiest and awesome quizzes of our times, including Science Quiz by Dr. H C Verma, HowStuffWorks Quiz, and Business Quiz.

7. Workshops

Workshops covering the advanced facets of technology like ARM Processors, Radio Controlled Aircraft making, Robotic Arm, Fuel Cell Technology, Android Development, Boomerang making, Science Journalism and many more.

8. Battlefield

The Case Study Challenge- Battlefield is the premier Case Study Challenge conducted by Techkriti in association with the Harvard Business Review, South Asia. Test your business acumen by solving the most challenging problems of the business world.
