How to Choose a Project Idea?

At CrazyEngineers, we are daily flooded with requests from engineering students asking for different project ideas. Many a times, they are clueless about what to choose and sometimes even how to choose.  Here’s an attempt to help you choose a project idea.

#-Link-Snipped-#Many engineering college students have no idea about the latest happenings in their specific branch or trade of engineering. The reason is ignorance or sheer lack of interest. And when it comes to choosing a project idea, they are left bewildered. Due to long-lasting trends in college, some students simply copy someone's project and some just buy an existing project. But trust me, creating projects isn't a boring task at all. In fact, it's the most interesting part of your life as an engineering student. And if things work out well, you could create wonders with your project.

The important point is choosing a project idea which is a really very easy task. First of all, you should choose a topic that interests you from the subjects that you have in syllabus. There is no need to choose ‘Robotics’ if you don’t know what a chip-set is or what the term AI means. Don't get under pressure of choosing something out of the box. The topic you are choosing should be something that you are willing to learn in depth. I assure you that once you complete your project; you will have in-detail knowledge about the peculiarities of the topic. You just have to develop keen interest in the whole project creation process.

Second step is to look around. There are thousands of problems around us. As an engineer it’s your job to find solutions to these problems. For e.g. if you are a mechanical engineer, you should find ways to make an existing system function better. If you are a computer engineer, you may know that thousands of innovations take place on the World Wide Web on a daily basis. Among all those, you can choose to think of ways that make a process simpler or more easily manageable.

The third and the final step is execution. #-Link-Snipped-# is there to help you execute your project. Whenever you are stuck with some part or some module in your project, you can ask for help from the Engineers aka CEans here and get your query solved. This way you help other learners too.

Choosing your third or final year engineering project is not a big deal. But, if you choose it well, your project can be the "next big thing" in the world. As an engineer, you have the tools to make things. There are countless possibilities that haven’t been explored yet. You just have to look out for it.
