World Engineers' Convention (WEC) 2011 at Geneva 4-9 September

This year Geneva will become the meeting point for engineers from around the world. Brazil has handed over the World Engineers’ Convention to Switzerland

World Engineers’ Con#-Link-Snipped-#vention 2011 (WEC 2011)  through its innovative engineering solutions seeks to encourage a globally sustainable energy. After Hanover, Shanghai and Brasilia, Geneva will become the fourth venue of the World Engineers’ Convention. WEC 2011 will be devoted to the issue of energy, taking place under the heading «Engineers Power the World – Facing the Global Energy Challenge».

Professor Daniel Favrat who heads the WEC 2011 Program Committee says,  "WEC 2011 is thus of great interest not only for engineers, but also for players from the fields of industry, politics, the administration and education." Professor Favrat together with energy experts from Swiss universities, technical colleges and industry as well as from abroad, is drawing up the program for WEC 2011. It should comprise five different subject areas: from mobility to urban planning and from energy production to energy consumption.

Engineers are known for their accomplishments that generate prosperity and life quality worldwide. Engineers are also able to offer solutions for the future. WEC 2011 aims to increase the awareness decision-makers and the general public may have of the performance of engineers, as well as honoring these efforts and accomplishments. More specifically, it wishes to encourage young generations to tackle the issues related to energy and the environment.

The organization of WEC 2011 has been entrusted to the Swiss organizations Swiss Engineering STV, SIA, SATW, Electrosuisse and FTAL. The Swiss Organization Committee is headed by National Councilor Ruedi Noser.
