Prof. Jack Levy of City University London Patents Bending Escalator: Levytator

This escalator follows free-form curves (but not convention!) and offers a better "cost per usable step" than your typical moving stairs. It has been patented in Europe, USA and in China.

    Good.

    But wat does he mean by reducing the cost per usable step? Is it to be taken that, this new design will use fewer material covering the same height, or what? I couldn't get that point..

    this resembles the convey belt at the airport baggage checkout terminal. Its made up of semi circular disks which self adjust naturally

    As I understand it, this levytator will be economical at places where it would have been impossible to build an escalator.
