After spending too much time dealing with repetitive involute spline calculations and CAD preparation, I decided to build a dedicated engineering tool for this topic.

I’m currently working on an involute spline generator supporting both ISO and ANSI standards.

The goal is to simplify and standardize spline design workflows for mechanical engineers — especially in early-stage design and documentation.

The tool focuses on:

  • ISO / ANSI involute spline geometry generation

  • Automated calculation of spline parameters

  • Reducing manual, repetitive engineering work

  • Supporting practical design workflows used in mechanical engineering

This started as a personal engineering project aimed at improving everyday design tasks related to shafts, hubs, and power transmission components.

At this stage, I’m not sharing a link yet — I’m still refining the concept and architecture.

I’d really appreciate feedback from engineers working in this area:

What part of involute spline design causes the most friction in your workflow?

  • Geometry and parameter definition

  • Tolerance and fit specification

  • Manual calculations and verification

  • CAD modeling and implementation

  • Something else entirely

Looking forward to hearing how others handle these challenges in practice.

Poll: What is the biggest pain point in involute spline design workflows?

Manual calculations take too long
Errors in geometry/parameters are too frequent
Lack of good ISO/ANSI tooling in CAD
I don’t work with splines regularly
