Olympus Unveils New Stylus SH-2 Camera: Specs And Features

Japan-based manufacturer, Olympus Corp. has unveiled its new retro-styled camera called ‘Olympus Stylus SH-2’ with features such as 24x optical zoom, 5-axis image and video stabilization, RAW support and many more. Priced at $400 (approximately Rs 25,000), the pocket-friendly Stylus SH-2 will be available in the US market in two colours- silver and black. Except couple of features like ‘RAW capture’ and ‘Live Composite’ technology, the new camera is nearly indistinguishable from its predecessor Stylus SH-1.

The compact Stylus SH-2 has a 16 MP 1/2.3 inch BSI CMOS image sensor with 24x optical zoom lens and its processing output is handled by TruePic VII image processor. The focal length of the lens ranges from 4.5 mm to 108 mm, which is equivalent to 25-600 mm in 35 mm terms. On the rear side of the camera, there is a 3 inch LCD touch-enabled monitor that has aspect ratio of 3:2 and resolution of 460K dots. The camera can shoot 1080p videos at up to 60 fps. 120 fps and 240 fps options are also present for recording. The camera gives continuous burst of up to 16 full-resolution JPEG images at a shooting speed of 11.5 fps or 200 images at 2.5 fps. During Interval Shooting mode, the camera captures up to 99 successive frames automatically at intervals ranging from 10 seconds to 60 minutes. The shooting modes include Scene, Panorama, PhotoStory, Advanced Movie, et al along with the newly added Nightscape Mode.

Stylus SH-2 with retro-cool exterior measures 108.8 x 63.2 x 42.4 mm and weighs 271 g (9.5 oz). Powered by Lithium-Ion rechargeable (LI-92B) battery, SH-2 works up to 380 image shots or supports 108 minutes continuous video shooting. It packs internal memory of 37 MB and is controlled by 5 direct buttons like Play, Movie, OK, Menu and Info. By using Wi-Fi and free Olympus Image Share (OI.Share) app, users can share files with synced smart devices, Geotag the images and can also perform remote operations of the camera from a smart device.
