Long-ESA Electric Airplane Is World's Fastest @ 202.6 mph!

The Flight of the Century team has achieved the record of being world's fastest manned electric aircraft with their airplane called Long-ESA, for “Electric Speed & Altitude”. Chip Yates, the person who holds record for driving #-Link-Snipped-#, has now accomplished this extraordinary feat with the flight speed of 202.6 mph at the Inyokern Airport in California’s Mojave Desert. He has beaten the previous record of 175 mph set by the electric Cri-Cri. To achieve this goal, their team converted Burt Rutan's Long-EZ airplane powered by a 258 horsepower electric motor for this flight.

As you will see in the video below, the flight lasted 16 minutes, which was lesser than aimed because a dead cell killed propulsion following the record run. This is not it for the team. They will soon be seen breaking their own records. Just wait and watch -
