RIM’s BlackBerry 10 Developer Alpha Version Of Siri - Much Work Needed
Looks like no smartphone is considered complete without powerful Siri-like voice commands. Now, Blackberry has incorporated voice commands in the latest update to RIMâs BlackBerry 10 Developer Alpha release. Well, Not a surprise really. There are some similarities between BlackBerryâs voice command feature and Siri (the voice for example), but with the former needing more training to match the latter. You can watch the video below to understand why RIMâs version is just not up to the mark of Siri.

Siri can do more than just calling some one in your contacts. It can hold a proper conversation with you. RIMâs version fails to do that. Samsung tried to ape Siri in its Galaxy SIII as S voice. And now, Google has come up with one such feature for Android Jellybean and is calling it Google Now.
The BlackBerryâs voice command feature has the flavor of an old answering machine. You can access it by holding down the pause/play button on BB10 developer unit and then a robotic voice says: âsay a command after the beepâ (just like it would be in your old answering machine). There is no visual interface as of now. Now you can go ahead and issue the commands.
From the video below, it is evident that the feature requires much fine-tuning. But no matter what, this signals RIMâs entry into the Voice command feature domain. We must wait to see if RIM is able to fine-tune its product and give a serious challenge to the other competitors.
