Infosys joining dates for 2012 campus recruits delayed by 3 months

The economy is bad and India's IT major Infosys (is on austerity drive. The company's just made a #-Link-Snipped-# that the joining dates of the new recruits have been deferred by ~3 months. The company however has confirmed that they'll honor all the offers they've made in the campus drives this year. The company says that in order to minimise the impact of the delay in sending the joining letters to the new candidates, an online training program has been set up. The training program is aimed at giving the fresh graduates a head-start in their career with Infosys and also reduce the overall duration of training at Mysore from 6 months to about 4 months.

Infosys says that they acknowledge that this move will lead to a ton of queries and doubts from the recruited candidates and they've set up a special chat-line to address the concerns, in addition to telecommunication and emails. The company has requested candidates to log on to the chat channel to get their questions answered and know the details of the online training program. The candidates who have questions or concerns may even connect with other candidates in a dedicated discussion thread on CrazyEngineers: #-Link-Snipped-#.

Infosys is taking this step as a cost cutting measure in the troubled economic times. According to TOI report, the falling margins and salary rises have forced Infy to go on a major cost-cutting drive. The company recently announced that they're eliminating the Business-Class travel to the senior executives. Mr. S.D. Shibulal sent an email to all the employees saying that company's recent acquisition of Loadstone have raised the company's expenditure too high and the company is implementing cost-cutting measures on a phased manner.

Several candidates that Infosys recruited earlier this year and towards the end of 2011 are expecting joining letter. Many candidates are reporting that their joining dates have been postponed to February and some even said that they've been informed that the joining date would be in April 2013.
