UberEats Clone for a Small Market – Does This Still Work?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been looking closely at how food delivery apps are evolving, and something caught my attention.

Big platforms are great, but in many cities (especially smaller ones), restaurants are struggling with high commissions and limited control. That got me thinking — does it still make sense to build a more focused ubereats clone for a specific area?

Not trying to compete with the big players, but more like:

  • targeting a single city or region

  • offering lower commission for restaurants

  • keeping the experience simple (ordering, tracking, delivery)

From what I see, the basic structure is straightforward — customer app, restaurant panel, delivery side, and admin control. But I feel the real difference comes down to execution and positioning, not just features.

I’ve actually been working on something along these lines recently, mainly to test how viable this model is for local businesses.

Curious to hear your thoughts:

  • Do you think restaurants would switch to a smaller platform if fees are lower?

  • What would matter more — faster delivery or better user experience?

  • Is starting with just one city still a smart move?

Happy to share what I’ve built so far if anyone’s interested
