Following the successful unveiling of Mondeo-Zhisheng, Ford motor Co. is planning to enter aggressively in the Chinese market-touted to be the fastest developing automobile market in the world. Ford plans  to introduce 15 vehicles in China by the end of 2015. This will be visible both in numbers also in terms of technology up-gradation. Ford engineers already have the experience of 2.0L EcoBoost engine fitted in the Mondeo-Zhisheng. Now they are trying to employ the EcoBoost technology under all Ford flagship vehicles especially in China. The designers claim that the technology when coupled with turbocharging yields a 50% more torque. Moreover we are scoring on the engine size front by downsizing it. The immediate effect of the new engine is however increasing the efficiency of the automobile by 20% and reduction in exhaust gas emission by around 22%. In other words, using downsized engine aims to maximize engine performance that too while being eco-friendly.

With the 2 liter engine, a rated mileage of 7.9L/100 km is easily achievable as per Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). A smaller version of it may perform better because of lower weight and higher torque characteristics. Ford is planning to expand the production of EcoBoost engines to 1.5 million worldwide. With this the automobile company will be able to cover 80% vehicles under these powerplants. The 1.0 liter capacity engines will be available by the end of 2015.

Following the recent trend of automobiles, producing auto-hybrids will be a major focus of automobile companies. We expect electric vehicles especially Ford Focus electric to be the star attraction of the Ford's Chinese vehicle fleet in recent years. China which is a huge market will see larger investment by the automobile sector.
