I stopped using IE and took up Firefox ( fantastic )

PC World rated Internet Explorer the eighth worst tech product of all time.

Use better open source softwares like Firefox , Chrome...!

"Linux Rocks"- Ubuntu an open source alternative to windows 😀 Check it out CEans..!

am a Big Fan of FF.
But nowadays seems that FF is getting more buggy, memory leaks, slow, etc.
same time, IE seems to be getting more stable.

Is there any specific reason to avoid IE for browsing CE?
Post some valid reason, so that it will useful for other like me.

Why hate IE...???

Even i use Firefox the most...but why everyone is saying to ignore IE???

I use IE for all internet banking transactions ..Is it ok???IS it safe??..Even for all applications ,they mention IE is best supported???Then why ignore it???

@Bharathpb: The problem is specifically with IE6. IE6 has been a buggy software with lack of support to Web Standards. Web deisngers and programmers always had to code differently for IE6. Yes, there are security issues related with IE6. Most of them were fixed in later versions of IE, but IE, until version 8 continued to remain way behind the modern browsers like FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari.

In addition, IE6 lacks many features. Look here: #-Link-Snipped-# - the comparison chart published by Microsoft.

The banks must support IE6 because it shipped as a default browser with Windows for a long time and people aren't aware of the upgrades. I hope the situation changes soon.

We cut down support to IE6 in March 2010 and our traffic suffered a lot because of it. However, I believe it's one of the best decisions we took.

But the fact is that, many of the programs are designed for IE, keeping in mind that IE has features of W3C which are implemented only after Candidate Review... 😔

Drawbacks
No standardised support.
Float Problem.
Layout Padding & Margin Problem.
CSS Issues.
Breaking on resize.
No stability!

Well, we cut down support to IE6 long long ago. Of course we paid a heavy price by losing lot of visitors (corporates would not upgrade the browsers to better IE or allow Chrome/FF/Safari/Opera). But we're happy we did it.

The next target is to make the experience better for the mobile phone users.

minimal addon support and sluggish .
and this is frustation that, I have to use IE at office 😡 .

I am using Morzilla Firefox. I prefer it over Google Chrome and Opera browser. It's just amazingly fast.
