We know that Biogas is pollution-free gas which is still being used in rural areas for cooking & other household activities. The CNGs & LPGs are used for in Vehicles, but not Biogas. Is there any reason behind that ?
Can we use Biogas as a fuel in vehicles ? If yes, then why no one is using it ?
To obtain slurry is not difficult task in India i think , Is it any possible way to use biogas as fuel for vehicles ?

Illuminate with correct information please.

!. Biogas has at best half the calorific value of LPG or CNG. The engine has to be differently designed and may not be usale for high pick up and acceleration.

2.Unfortunately, as it is a fermentation process, biogas production and composition varies. We found this in some of our early work on biogas. We got only carbon di oxide in one study. It is difficult to design a suitable IC engine for such a fuel. It can be used in vehicles if processed to a consistent composition.

3. However, it should be eminently possible to use this gas in an external combustion system to generate steam to run a steam turbine powered vehicle. Is there a future for steam-powered, super-efficient cars? | HowStuffWorks

Biogas is a mixture of following gases namely methane(60%),co2(40%),small traces of h2s.
It was generally not used in the ic engines because of the following natures:
1)Large amount of co2 decreases the poweer output of engine. It can be elliminated by mixing it with h20 to form a acidic solutionwhich needs proper care in disposal.
2)H2S is acidic in nature and corrosive in nature. It can be eliminated by passing it through iron oxide or zinc oxide.
3)H2sS is having a bad smell
4)It produces moisture inside the engine which makes starting more difficult.
5)It produces more heat and sufficiant cooling system must be provided.
It can be used both in petrol and diesel engines.

Biogas engines were used in China and Nepal .
They encountered problems in valves, cooling system, lubrication, etc.
More engine wear is experienced.
😁Hope you understand that Its more expensive and needs complicated design.Hope we use biogas in near future.😀

Biofuels are as old as Rudolf Diesel and Henry Ford.
