Blackberry users in India with the BB OS 6.0 and upwards will now be able to use the BBM Voice service free of cost. The announcement comes from Blackberry executives during the launch of Blackberry Q5 - at a price of Rs. 24,999. The arrival of BBM Voice service is definitely a good news for all the BBM fans.
The BBM Voice service lets you make audio calls with your contacts around the world who're using the BBM Voice; free of cost over Wi-Fi. The service wasn't available in India until today. All you will need is the latest version of the BBM, V. 7.0.1.23 to use this service. Upgrading your BBM is easy. Simply turn on your Wi-Fi connection and access the app from the system menu. The app will prompt you to download and install the update. Follow the instructions and you should be all set in almost no time. Make sure that your phone's operating system is BB OS 6.0 and above.
Using the voice service is even easier. Open any contact of your choice and look for the grey/green icon in the top-right corner of the screen. If the icon is absent, it means the user does not have the BBM voice service. If the icon is grey, the user is offline and not available for voice chat. If the icon is green, the user is available for voice chat. Simply tap on the icon and begin voice chat. If there's an incoming voice conversation request over BBM Voice, you can accept it by pressing the green call button on the keypad. Of course there are several other options.
