Acer Liquid S2 has 4K Video Recording. Won't Play Them @ Full Resolution.
Acer Liquid S2 is world's first phone with 4K video recording abilities. The company announced that Liquid S2 has a 6" IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3. Note that the display is full HD (1920x1080) and is not capable of playing the 4K videos in their native resolution. You'll need an expensive 4K display to view your gorgeous videos. On the specs side, the phone will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and have 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor at its heart. There's 2GB of memory and 16 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded to 128 GB using MicroSD card. Keep in mind that you'll quickly run out of space if you capture videos at 4K resolution.
The rear camera on the phone is 13MP equipped with BSI sensors and LED ring flash. Acer says that users will be able to capture full panoramic photographs up to 27MP. The phone comes with Bluetooth, GPS, AGPS, 3G/4G (country-wise), NFC and Wi-Fi etc. The whole unit is powered by a nice 3300 mAh battery.
The phone will hit the global markets in October. Acer did not comment on the pricing of the phone but expect it to be expensive. Our best guess would be Rs. 45k in India. We'll have to wait for official announcement at the IFA.
Note that 4K video recording looks like the new 'in thing' for upcoming mobile phones. We recently informed you that the latest leaked information about Samsung Galaxy Note 3 suggested that the phone would be capable of 4K video captures. If 4K is the new video capture standard, all of us should better start saving for the 4K displays.
