Film based cameras have been long dead now, I have ditched mine since eight years and moved on to its digital counterpart and I am sure that all of you have done the same. Decline in the demand for film based single-lens reflex camera has forced many manufacturers to cease their production but what if you want to relive the past? Léo Marius has the solution. Marius has put up his 3D printing project on the Instructables website giving you detailed step-by-step instructions on how to manufacture your own film based SLR from parts worth just $30 (approx 1800 INR). The OpenReflex camera comes with a mirror viewfinder and finger activated mechanic shutter and accepts any photographic lens with a custom mount ring.
All the parts take about 15 hours to print and about an hour to assemble. The camera uses standard 35mm film and the results as noted by <a href="https://gizmodo.com/a-3d-printed-slr-makes-us-wish-for-3d-printed-film-too-700262792" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">A 3D-Printed SLR Makes Us Wish For 3D-Printed Film, Too</a> are similar to the ones shot by <a href="https://gizmodo.com/photography-is-even-more-satisfying-when-you-build-your-513120820" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Photography Is Even More Satisfying When You Build Your Own Camera</a>$35 DIY camera. On the #-Link-Snipped-# website Leo has also stated that if the project is well-received he shall start a crowd funding initiative to mass produce his creation. In the past we have seen the <a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/australian-police-issue-warning-on-3d-printed-guns-say-misfiring-kills-at-both-ends.68233">Australian Police Issue Warning On 3D Printed Guns; Say Misfiring 'Kills At Both Ends'</a> of 3D printing but all we can hope that for old timesâ sake this initiative gets a good response. We would also like to point out that the cost of 3D printers is steadily decreasing and with the option of renting one we surely hope to find more of such DIY projects.
