WhatsApp Photos Of Pothole To Bihar Government & Get Road Repaired

WhatsApp's fast becoming a way of business communication and Bihar government is all gung-ho about using it for better administration. Techno-savvy Deputy CM of Bihar, Mr. Tejaswi Yadav has announced a new initiative to ease reporting of bad roads to the Government. People can now click photos of the potholes and bad roads that need immediate attention and send it to Phone:# 9470001346 via WhatsApp. The government officials will then take appropriate action.

Alternatively, there's a toll-free number 1800-345-6233 where people can register their complaints. The initiative is a part of the Output and Performance Based Road Assets Maintenance Contract aka OPRMC. Mr. Yadav believes that this initiative will bring more efficiency and transparency to the system.

The officials from the road construction department are supporting the new initiative as well. An official informed that it's people-friendly way of connecting with the administration.

The idea seems to be inspired from the 'Tweeting Pothole' project initiated in the Panama City. A tiny device would be placed in the pothole and it'd send a tweet to all the concerned government officials every time a car or a bus ran over it. We'd like to ask our fellow engineers if they have any innovative ideas that can help in better governance. Do share them below.
