Can you try to make a guess using the names? That is, why is DC or AC Motor called so?

The basic functionally of the motor is to convert given input electrical energy into mechanical energy.

And the difference between the AC and DC motor is the excitation supply. As the name suggests AC motors are excited with the AC supply and generates the mechanical output based on the application use. Same with DC motors, they are excited with DC supply.

The stator and rotor in the motor structure are responsible for converting the supply voltage into the mechanical movement.

AC Motors-

Ac motors are powered from AC current.

In AC motors conversion of current is not required.

AC motors can be single-phase or three phases.

AC motor does not use brushes.

DC Motors-

DC motors are powered from DC current.

In DC motors conversion of current is required like ac into dc current.

All DC motors are single phase.

DC motor uses brushes.

the most distinctive difference is the power source. DC motor is powered from direct current while AC motor is powered from alternating current.

D.C wound field motors are built with brushes and a switch which contribute to the maintenance, limit the speed and generally lessen the brushed D.C's expected lifespan. Engines. C.A. Induction engines are not using brushes; they are quite rough and have long service life spans.

There are several key differences between AC motors and DC motors, besides the obvious one that relates to how each of these components is powered. A.C. motors are powered from alternating current (A.C) while D.C. motors are powered from direct current (D.C), such as batteries, D.C power supplies or an AC-to-DC power converter.
