What is the largest number possible using 2, 2, 2 & 2?

CEans,

What is the largest number possible using four 2's. Can we come up with a formula with two variables [viz. the number (x) & repetitions (y)]?

What do you think?

Addendum: Factorial is not allowed 😉 ! Kaustubh Katdare • Oct 19, 2008
I sometimes sit & wonder, if the questions we post here in CE's CE - Quiz | Puzzles | Mathematics section are way too tough for most of us?

Or shall we start posting simple, no-brainy puzzles? Not a single try for the current puzzle? Raviteja.g • Oct 19, 2008
I think the biggest no possible is
(((2^2)^2)^2) shalini_goel14 • Oct 20, 2008
Hi,

I think the largest number possible using four 2's is
(2 ^(22 ^2)) = (approx.)4.9 *(10^145)

I guess the following formula should work for largest no possible using x(as no) and y(as no of repititions)

if (y>2)
x ^((y-2)times x)^x)
else
y times x Kaustubh Katdare • Oct 20, 2008
Not really,

22[sup]2[/sup] < 2 [sup]22[/sup]

So we can still go further. shalini_goel14 • Oct 20, 2008
Yes Big,

You are true, but what happens when we have too long value in exponential ,we get sometimes infinitely large values. So to avoid this thing,I have not taken 2 22 into account. prakash.athani • Oct 20, 2008
Is there any number larger than 2^222 for four 2's? shalini_goel14 • Oct 20, 2008

Hi Prakash,

2^(22^2) > 2^222 (if we assume values to infinity are allowed) shalini_goel14 • Oct 20, 2008

Hi Prakash,

2^(22^2) > 2^222 (if we assume values to infinity are allowed)

Also
2^(2^22) > 2^(22^2) > 2^222 (if we assume values to infinity are allowed) Kaustubh Katdare • Oct 20, 2008
Are we at the biggest number yet? Kaustubh Katdare • Oct 25, 2008
Guys, the factorial operation is NOT allowed Raviteja.g • Oct 31, 2008
anyway what is the biggest number? Kaustubh Katdare • Oct 31, 2008

Yeh, that's the question 😉 ! The_Big_K
Yeh, that's the question 😉 ! (2*2)/(2-2)... ha ha ha. Can someone find bigger then this... Kaustubh Katdare • Oct 31, 2008

That is NOT defined, CB 😉

But I didn't think about that 😉 The_Big_K

But I didn't think about that 😉 Surrendered... 😁

may be 2^(2^22) is biggest...

So, what's the final answer we have? shiwa436 • Feb 4, 2009
22^22 is the answer i think. Kaustubh Katdare • Feb 4, 2009

the answer which is in my mind is (2^(2^22)) or even it might be 22^22 Kaustubh Katdare • Feb 7, 2009

Savitha - have a look at earlier posts in this thread. We've discussed quite a lot already  arsh86 • Mar 21, 2009
