Vodafone 4G In Mumbai By December 2015
India's second largest telecom operator, Vodafone has announced plans to launch its 4G services in Mumbai by December 2015. Vodafone has been investing in setting up 4G infrastructure and has already began the initial tests. It's partnered with global telecom technology providers to roll out the network by year end in Mumbai.
Mumbai has been one of the top markets for Vodafone, contributing about 30% of its data services revenues. Vodafone is now looking to strengthen its presence in Mumbai and has invested millions in setting up the backend fiber infrastructure. The company informed the media that higher capacity fiber lines will help all its existing subscribers get better data experience.
Ishmeet Singh, the business head of Vodafone India's Mumbai operations informed that the company will launch its 4G services in the 1800 MHz band in Mumbai. It's backed with experience of rolling out 4G services in several countries. Singh said that Vodafone has the required expertise to ensure smooth roll out. He said that the Vodafone 4G experience will be best in class.
Vodafone might also want to be ready to fight the upcoming 4G services launch by Reliance Jio. RJio head Mukesh Ambani had said that the company will launch 4G services throughout India and it's expected that Reliance will disrupt the markets with its pricing.
