TRAI Rejects RIM's Solution To Secure Corporate Email Services

It looks like the Smartphone maker, Blackberry's going to have a tough road ahead doing business in India. Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India has rejected RIM (Research In Motion)'s solution to secure corporate email services. In an internal note, dated September 28, the telecom department's security wing claims security agencies have been unable to intercept or monitor secure email communication made through the (BES) in readable format.

RIM maintains that they do not have the keys to turn the secured corporate emails into human readable format. According to TRAI, RIM has failed to provide proper decoding of Blackberry Messenger Service and the chats through BBM cannot be read.

The stakes are high for RIM as it has over a million blackberry users in India and less than 400,000 users who use corporate email service and the blackberry messenger service.
