Toshiba Launching Self Encrypting & Erasing Hard Drives

Self Encrypting Drives or SED are a new MKxx61GSYG series hard disk drives from Toshiba. The drive specifications are that they are 2.5-inch, 7,200 RPM Serial ATA storage products. The company has added built in hardware data encryption that leads to advanced security of the drives. It also has wipe technology i.e. to wipe protected data from the disk or deny access to protected data if access credentials are invalid.

MKxx61GSYG encrypts at full storage I/O speeds and scales seamlessly in multi-drive applications.
