Texas Instruments (TI) - leading Electronics & Semiconductor company has signed a definitive agreement with National Semiconductor (NI) to acquire its business for $6.5 billion in cash. NI is a leader in analog & power management semiconductors. With this acquisition, both companies now aim to strengthen their presence in their own respective domains, offer large array of products to the customers, increase shareholder value and merge into each other culturally & strategically.

The customers will now have access to 42000 different analog products under single roof. It also means better customer support to the clients of both companies and increased sales-force.
