Swipe Ready To Make In India With New Manufacturing Unit In Maharashtra
With its headquarters in Singapore and the Base of operation in India, Swipe Technologies is the Indian company that is ready to dip its hands in the 'Make in India' initiative's waves. Founded and led by Indians with Mr. Shripal Gandhi as the CEO, Mr. Aman Gupta as the CFO and Mr. Ashwin Bhandari, the Vice President of Strategy & Products, who also heads the manufacturing units of the company, Swipe Telelcom has declared that an investment of $3 - $4 million will be made over the period of next 2 years to get Swipe's own manufacturing plant set up and running in Maharashtra.

The biggest turning point for Swipe came when in 2012, they launched India’s first 3D Tablet called 'Swipe Tab X745' which was priced at a really economical tag of Rs. 5,999. Later the same year, the company was awarded the title of the 'Most Innovative Driven Company' by the World Bank Congress.
The company has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since. By May 2013, they had sold a whopping 100,000 devices and in an year later, investors saw potential in the firm and Kallari Capital was quick to invest $4.9 million in 2014.
While the company generates 25% of its revenues from tablets, the rest comes from smartphones. With success at its all time high, Swipe hopes to achieve a run rate of ~2 million units annually in 2015. Their goal is to earn revenues of Rs. 1000 crore by March 2018 and they look optimistic about it when they share a growth rate of 200-250% from western and southern India.
Make in india initiative has been shaping up rapidly in the country as several big names from the gadget industry have begun the assembly of their manufacturing plants in India. Among tech-giants, the prominent ones include Xiaomi, Micromax, Samsung and Spice. There are talks of Motorola, ASUS and Gionee being next on that list.
