Scored 70% Throughout Semesters? Welcome To TCS!
Biggest IT outsourcing and IT services company in India, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is all set to hire over 37000 engineering professionals this year which includes a large number of fresh engineering graduates. But putting candidates through the recruitment process is a huge task. That's the reason TCS has come up with an innovative recruitment idea: If you've scored 70%+ throughout your academic career, you can directly appear for the technical interview at TCS. No need to clear the aptitude and psychometric tests anymore.

The system is being implemented in the current hiring season and monitored as an experimental project. The company expects that many candidate will take advantage of it to leapfrog directly to the interview stage. However, the offer is only valid for candidates belonging to engineering colleges that fall under A+, A and B grade. Other candidates will have to wait until TCS decides to scrap the aptitude tests altogether. The TCS spokesperson said that the purpose of the written tests is to check candidate's aptitude and they believe a consistent academic performance is a clear indicator of the aptitude.
TCS has already hired over 23000 candidates from over 171 engineering campuses this year. Many candidates with more than 70% were asked to directly appear for the Interview.
I believe that the project will work. Having spent some time in the IT industry, I know the quality of work that's done in Indian IT companies which is 90% about software testing, code-writing and support for the systems architected by the client companies in the west. I'd even go further and say that most of the Indian IT engineering talent is being wasted in IT services.
Do you agree with me?
