Samsung Galaxy S4 Wi-Fi Connection Issue - How To Fix?
Samsung has admitted that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has Wi-Fi connection issue. Several users are reporting that Galaxy S4 cannot establish connection with D-Link routers. Staying connected to wireless connection isn't possible for more than a few minutes. It's being reported that the D-Link models DIR-655 and DIR-855 are the routers that Samsung S4 cannot establish connection with. The problem isn't specific to phones in a specific country; rather seems to be affecting phones all over the world. The problem is caused by the firmware stored on a specific access point in D-Link router. Customers have been advised to upgrade their firmware to the latest version or reboot the access point.
If you connect your phone to your home or office wireless network and the phone completely drops the connection after some time - you might want to upgrade the firmware as soon as it's made available on Kies.
Trying alternate firmwares has not been proven effective for many Galaxy S4 users. It's not very clear if the problem can be solved by fixing the D-Link router or S4's firmware - but S4 is the first phone to have such a problem with D-Link. It's therefore likely that a firmware upgrade will solve the issue.
Some of the users have fixed the problem by setting up the Cypher Type on their D-Link DIR-855 to 'TKIP'. This fixes the problem with Galaxy S4 wireless disconnection, but then Sony Laptop then refuses to connect with the router.
In the mean-time, D-Link has also acknowledged the problem hand have began working on the fix.
