SafeMate is a new smart device launched by India's leading digital map, GPS and tracking service provider - MapMyIndia. The SafeMate is a very portable, 50g gadget measuring just about 2.5" (length) x 1.6" (breadth) x 0.7" (thick) that can fit into your child's back or wife's purse or pocket. It's connected to the GPS and the Internet to send real time location information to the assigned phone or desktop.
The device also has a big SOS button that, with just a press, can send email as well as SMS alerts to the designated phone numbers. Using the device is very easy and requires no technical knowhow. SafeMate retails for about Rs. 6990/- and that price gets you 1 year of SIM and subscription worth Rs. 3600 free. As of now, the product is exclusively available on Flipkart. It's important to note that the device runs on its own and does not depend on a smartphone to communicate data and information. MapMyIndia is promising a battery life of about 3-4 days on default settings. If the device runs out of power, it will notify you through an SMS.
