Reliance Tab Is India's First CDMA Tablet

Reliance Communications headed by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani has launched India's first ever CDMA tablet called 'Reliance Tab'. The company has also launched customized data plans optimized for the tablet and offer ~40% discounts on annual payments on the 5Gb data plan. The company believes that there's a growing demand for the tablets priced under Rs. 20000 in India. Reliance plans to attract customers with monthly discounts ranging from 20% to 31%.

We do not have access to full hardware and software specifications yet. But what we do know is that the Reliance Tab offers Android 2.3 Gingerbread along with 32Gb of storage and and weighs close to 400 gm. We hope to have the other specifications soon. Reliance claims that the tablet will be supported by their strong CDMA network available in over 1000 cities spread across 22 circles. Company intends to offer Antivirus and other benefits worth Rs. 2100 with the tablet.

Reliance has been in the market for long time and the rival Reliance Industries (headed by Mukesh Ambani) is expected to launch 4G tablets in India this year. We believe the Indian market favors sub Rs. 5000 tablets (Aakash) and with over 100,000 tablets being booked every day; the market is definitely growing for the cheaper tablets. It would be interesting to follow Reliance! We promise to bring you all the updates as soon as they're available.
