Nvidia KAL-EI Chip With Five Cores Introduced

Nvidia has announced that upcoming Kal-EI will have five cores instead of four. The news came out with the architecture of this system-on-chip for mobile computing.

The news of the fifth core has generated a deluge in technological business. The media watching this action of Nvidia as an efficient step towards the performance and power consumption demands of mobile computing.

The newly announced fifth core will act as a “companion” of other four cores. Whenever the system does some minor works which doesn’t require much power like reading and listening music at that time the fifth one will be operated and the other four will be turned off. While working on higher power and performance demanding task such as browsing flashed based web pages, multitasking, gaming and media processing the four will be activated and the companion core will be turned off.

As per today’s market which demands high-performance tablets and Smartphone’s, Nvidia believes that this five-core approach will deliver energy efficiency along with powerful performance which will enhance battery life.

The company has its reputation as a graphics chips manufacturer  for PCs but now its appear as if company is trying to expand their realm in the field of manufacturing chips for Smartphone’s and tablets. All five CPU cores would be based on Arm cortex A9 CPU. Rumors are that company will launch their Kal-Ei based products later this year.
