I believe this project idea hasn't been done before and you can pick it up for your final or third year engineering project. The idea is about development of a smart fire alarm. What are the deficiencies in the traditional fire alarms? Well, they only alert nearby people through sound alarm. It usually takes time to alert the owner. Why don't you develop a smart fire alarm that sends a text message to the predefined number or a set of phone numbers? You may install sensors and pass on more information - which could be a snap of the surrounding, temperature ( 😀 ), exact place where the fire's been detected etc.
