  • Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax has put up two new budget Android smartphones for sale through online retailers. The Micromax Bolt A28 & A59 are up for sale on SnapDeal and are currently out of stock on Flipkart. Let us discuss both of the smartphones one by one, starting with A28. The Micromax A28 is a Dual-SIM GSM smartphone that runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a 3.5inch TFT display with a HVGA (480 x 320 pixels) resolution. Underneath the hood we find a 1GHz Cortex A5 processor and Mali 300 GPU. It also comes with an internal memory of 512MB and gives you the option of expanding that storage by using microSD cards of up to 32GB. The A28 is powered by a 1500mAh battery that promises to deliver 4 hours of talk time and 260 hours of standby. It sports rather underwhelming 0.3 MP cameras, one on the front and one on the back. The A28 offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and micro USB connectivity but misses out on 3G connectivity.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the amount of RAM present on the A28 since (as of this writing) its#-Link-Snipped-# states in the introduction section that the device has got 1GB of RAM and in the spec sheet states that it has got 2GB of RAM. On Online Shopping India | Buy Mobiles, Electronics, Appliances, Clothing and More Online at Flipkart.com however it has been listed as 256 MB of RAM. We are inclined to believe that the Flipkart listing has got the data correct since it is highly improbable to find 1 or 2GB of RAM on a smartphone that costs between Rs. 3599 (Flipkart price) and Rs. 3674 (SnapDeal price).

Next we come to the Micromax Bolt A59 that runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) on a 3.5inch TFT screen with a HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) resolution. Underneath we find a 1 GHz Spreadtrum SC7710 processor and Mali 300 GPU. There seems to be the same confusion with the RAM figures since #-Link-Snipped-# it is 256 MB but Online Shopping India | Buy Mobiles, Electronics, Appliances, Clothing and More Online at Flipkart.com it as 2GB. The Micromax A59 boasts of a 2MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front snapper. It has got a decent internal memory of 4GB and it can be expanded by using microSD cards of up to 32GB. The smartphone’s 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery offers 160 hours of standby and 4 hours of talktime. This one too offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and micro USB connectivity and it is 3G capable. The Micromax Bolt A59 is priced at Rs. 4499 (Flipkart price) and Rs. 4542 (SnapDeal price).

We hope to learn more about the exact RAM figures as soon as Micromax officially launches both of these smartphones.

Now, this seems to be perfect for the price one will pay,
Few Indian companies are doing justice to the price consumer wants to pay for smart phone.

Feature wise, I wish Micromax start assembling the screen with Gorilla Glass (Their biggest shortcoming till now). Other than that you can not get better in 4500 INR.

    Anyone has other thoughts?
Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
