Project Abstract / Summary : An industry plays a vital role for the development of a Nation. Normally from industry considerable amount of waste will be generated and dumped into landfills which affect the environment. Many countries are trying for alternate ways to reuse the waste but it forms a cycle. Instead of dumping these wastage's, it can be used as source for power production. Introducing a power plant that runs with industrial wastage's would reduce the requirement of existing power plants. In order to overcome these issues, a power plant is needed that can utilize the waste from the industry as a source and satisfy the power demand. Similarly the proposed system has broken the cycle of waste and it is completely converted in to useful resource. The bio degradable tribid(three) wastes such as sago, leather and dye wastes from industries are collected and mixed into desired proportion then allowed to fermentation by bacteria. To increase the bacterial growth natural catalysts are added for accelerated methane production. Methane from industrial wastes is directly fed to the fuel cell for generating electrical energy. The fuel cells are comparatively economic, efficient and pollution free than conventional system involving boilers, turbine and generators. The industrial wastes form a layer of sludge at the bottom which is used for making the bacterial concrete. Entire system is automated with the help of ARM processor in UTLP.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Industries are draining out the electrical energy from any possible sources. As much of resource an industry uses, considerable amount of wastes are generated. Such Wastes are dumped in landfills and mixed in water bodies, which spoils environment. Many countries are trying different ways to reuse the waste as source of energy, but these sources also generate some other wastes and it forms a cycle. We wish to break this cycle and convert these wastes into a complete useful energy source by means forming mixture of desired ratio. This would create impact on our economy and growth. Countries like India are dependent upon other countries for raw materials and they fix the cost which creates impact on cost of the electrical energy. By means of using a source of our own we can generate power at large scale and very low cost. As they are made as mixture sources are abundant and continues. Industrial wastes are not going to be burden anymore which needs landfills. Fuel cells produce green energy which emits less pollution than other. as methane is directly feed into fuel cells than boilers it reduces losses in the form of heat, friction and kinetic motion. Comparatively fuel cells are less initial and running cost. Even the sediments in the mixture tank along with the bacteria are used in bacterial concrete. Sediments are used along with ordinary concrete mixture and it reduces the quantity of fine aggregate. Bacterial concrete will refill the cracks, so they don’t need refinish work and cost of concrete will be comparatively less. The storage tank are placed at the under ground to maintain the temperature and space over which the control system and fuel cells are placed. In future various industries form collaborative power plant where they store the waste in a common place and they are run at a large scale and power demand reduced. Intensity of pollutants in the liquid gets reduced after the fermentation process which could be used for making agricultural fertilizers and pesticides.
