It now supports more devices and faster networks while making it more secure to use. The IEEE 802.11 revision has always had greater impacts on the developers and users of the Wi-Fi enabled devices & services. The latest revision is fourth one since the its initial publication in 1997, adding over 10 amendments to the base standard that was approved in 2007.
