Docomo's 3D Live Communication System Converts Your Words Intro Images

With each passing day, the technology is taking us close to completely replacing video calls with more realistic systems. NTT Docomo, the japanese tech giant is developing once such technology called as the '3D Live Communication System'. Using this a user's word will be converted into images of the user in virtual space & the user at the other end will be able to see it on their own device i.e. a tablet. In short, using speech recognition the keywords from a communicating user's speech will be embodied into objects. Furthermore, using spatial recognition technology users will be able to see 360° videos or 3D objects. So if you look in from above, the object appears as seen from above, and if you look in sideways, the object appears as seen from the side.

Docomo has used special range-imaging camera and AR markers for varying the orientation of the tablet. For demonstration, currently they have shown how users can be transformed into animals, or they can warp to other virtual environments such as a theme park or the surface of the moon. Within these virtual environments, multiple users will be able to discuss the information being shared. When will this prototype enter the commercial market has not been decided yet, so till we hear more from Docomo see a video of this concept -
