  • what is the difference between a basic disk and dynamic disk?? there is a difference when we are using multiple hard disks, dynamic disks supports disk striping and mirroring in some of the OS, whereas basic disk doesn't. But what when we are using a single disk only?? Are there any major differences in that case?? We can convert a basic disk into dynamic disk, but why not vice-versa??

Well you can convert Basic disks into dynamic disks from the storage management utility itself. Apart from that, dynamic disks support better performance and service handling. But there is a drawback, You cannot multi boot from Dynamic disks. So there are pros and cons of both of them. Basic disk can be easily differentiated as a simple pool of memory, do whatever you want. Dynamic is highly responsive.
