DARPA ARM Bot 'Robbie' Developed By RE2 To Revolutionize Robot Manipulation

DARPA is well on its way to create the ultimate robot manipulator that will be able to grasp things and perform complicated tasks in dynamic environment, keeping human interference to its minimum. This is a result of DARPA's Autonomous Robotic Manipulation (ARM) program that extends over four years with goals to develop software and hardware for the same. With this background, #-Link-Snipped-# a leading developer company from Pittsburgh has designed a robot named 'Robbie' that has two multi-fingered arms with inbuilt sensors. Robbie is expected to perform difficult robotic manipulations like changing tires of a car and such autonomously.

It's been said that a copy of Robbie will be sent to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. where Robbie will play RE2 developed games with visitors. In the following video above, Patrick Rowe from the RE2 team explains Robbie's main components and capabilities. Check it out -
