if a synchronous motor is overexcited then it acts as a synchronous condensor.
it is called so because it works like a capacitor viz., giving reactive power back to the circuit when excited.

Got you?😀synchronous generator can also be act as overexcited...then we only talk about syn motor??..similar can also be happen if generator is underexcited...so can syn also be act as syn condenser??...
