Who we are

CrazyEngineers is run by CrazyEngineers Technologies Private Limited (CIN U72900MH2009PTC197487), registered at B-402, J P Chambers, Madhav Nagar, Nagpur, Maharashtra 440010, India. We decide how your personal data is used on this site. You can reach us at admin@crazyengineers.com.

What we collect

Account details

Your name, username, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form). We also record how you sign in: with a password, an email sign-in link, Google or LinkedIn. If you sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from them. We never see your Google or LinkedIn password.

Profile information

Anything you choose to add to your profile, such as a photo, a short headline and a bio.

What you post

Your posts, replies, reactions, poll votes, uploads and direct messages. Posts and replies in public channels can be seen by anyone, including search engines. Direct messages and private channels are only shown to the people in them.

Usage and device data

Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and when, and similar technical details our servers record. If you turn on browser notifications, we store the address your browser gives us for sending them.

Cookies

Small files that keep you signed in, protect forms and remember your settings, plus analytics cookies. Our cookie policy lists them.

Why we use it

• To run the community: create your account, sign you in, show your posts and profile, and deliver your messages.
• To keep it safe: stop spam, abuse and fake accounts, look into reports and enforce our community guidelines. Posts from new members are checked automatically for spam and abuse during their first weeks.
• To send notifications you choose: emails and browser notifications about replies, mentions, messages and digests. You can change these in your notification settings at any time. We also send emails you can’t switch off, such as sign-in links, password resets and account notices.
• To improve the site: understand which pages people use and fix what isn’t working.
• To meet legal duties: respond to lawful requests and keep records the law requires.

We use your data because you’ve agreed to it by joining, because we need it to give you the service, or because we have a fair reason to keep the community safe and working. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t share it with advertisers. We only share it with service providers that help us run the site, and only what they need:

• Hosting: the servers that store the site and its data.
• Email delivery: the provider that sends our emails to you.
• Google: Google sign-in (if you use it), Google Analytics to measure site use, and Google Fonts to load the site’s typefaces.
• LinkedIn: LinkedIn sign-in, if you use it.
• TypeSafe: automated spam and abuse screening of new members’ posts.
• Your browser’s push service (for example Google, Mozilla or Apple): to deliver browser notifications, if you turn them on.
• KLIPY: GIF search, when you search for a GIF in a reply box.
• YouTube and Vimeo: when you play a video that a member has embedded in a post.

We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or as part of a merger or sale of the company, in which case this policy would still apply. Some of these providers process data outside India. When they do, we use providers that protect it to a standard comparable to this policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. Server logs and backups are kept for a limited time and then deleted or overwritten.

When you delete your account

• You can delete your account from your account settings. We wait 7 days before deleting it, so you can change your mind.
• After that, we erase your profile: your name, username, email, photo and other profile details. Your drafts and scheduled posts are deleted.
• Posts, replies and messages you already published stay, because other people’s conversations depend on them, but they are shown as written by “Deleted Member” and no longer linked to you.
• If you want specific posts removed too, email us at admin@crazyengineers.com and tell us which ones.

We may keep a small amount of information for longer when the law requires it, or to stop people who were banned for abuse from coming back.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct anything that’s wrong. You can edit most details yourself in your profile and account settings.
• Download a copy of your data.
• Delete your account and data, as described above.

Email admin@crazyengineers.com from the address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can also nominate someone to act for you if you are unable to. If you’re unhappy with our answer, contact our grievance officer (details below), or the data protection authority where you live.

Children

CrazyEngineers is not for children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age. If you are under 18, please use the site with a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we’ll delete it.

Keeping your data safe

We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, limited staff access and regular updates to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If a breach affects you, we’ll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For important changes, we’ll also let members know by email or a notice on the site before the changes take effect.
