Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. CrazyEngineers uses only a few, mostly to keep you signed in and the site secure.

Cookies the site needs

These are set by CrazyEngineers itself. The site can’t work properly without them, so they can’t be switched off.

  • Session cookie: keeps you signed in as you move between pages. It expires when your session ends.
  • Security cookie (XSRF-TOKEN): protects forms from being submitted by other websites.
  • “Remember me” cookie: keeps you signed in between visits, if you choose to stay signed in.

Preference cookies

  • community_appearance_mode: remembers whether you picked light or dark mode. It lasts one year.

Your browser may also store a few settings on your device, such as notices you’ve dismissed. These stay on your device and are not cookies.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies whose names start with _ga, which last up to two years. Google Analytics doesn’t tell us who you are. You can see how Google uses this data in Google’s explanation, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Other services

When you play a YouTube or Vimeo video in a post, or sign in with Google or LinkedIn, those services may set their own cookies under their own policies. YouTube videos load in privacy-enhanced mode where possible.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies the site needs, you won’t be able to sign in. Read our privacy policy for more on how we handle your data.
