Approved Features For Fedora 20

After the release of Fedora 19 Schrodinger's Cat, Fedora team & community is working on next upcoming upgrade of Fedora 20. Recently in the mailing list, some of the Fedora 20 features has been approved :

  • SSDE will be default display manager over KDM (i.e for KDE)
  • <a href="https://hadoop.apache.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Apache Hadoop</a> will be available.
  • KDE Plasma workspace 4.11 will be available in Fedora repository & in <a href="https://spins.fedoraproject.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fedora Spins</a>.
  • <a href="https://www.yesodweb.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Yesod Web Framework for Haskell</a> will be included in Fedora 20
  • Shared certificate tools which is being developed will also be included, this tool helps to manage shared system certificates in the distro.
  • ARM will be primary architecture for F20, ARM domain is taken more seriously now by Fedora Project.
  • Boost 1.54 packages will be available for F20.
  • ARM emulating with libVirt will be supported.
  • VM snapshots UI with virt-manager.

    Update :
    Few more features have been approved.

    - Gnome desktop stack will be upgraded to GNOME 3.10
    - Syslog will be removed from core but will stay in standard.
    - LVM Thin Provisioning support
    - X2Go packages for F20 proposed.
    - SSSD Smart-card added. SSSD CFIS Plugin support.
    - Ryu Network OS packaged for F20.

    - Heisenberg
    - Cherry Ice Cream
    - Superego
    - Santa Claus
    - Felicette
    - Chateaubriand
    - Osterreich

    Update:
    For Fedora 20 codename candidates, "Heisenberg" got maximum votes & is selected for Fedora 20's codename.
    "Heisenberg" is a Computer programming software bug.

    Update : On 17th December, Fedora 20 will be releasing final/stable build.
