Alcatel Launches PLUS 10 2-in-1 Windows 10 Tablet With LTE Support

Alcatel has ventured into the PC market with its new 2-in-1 Windows 10 creation called the PLUS 10. With a detachable keyboard dock, the PLUS 10 can be used in three modes. First is the regular laptop mode where you place the tablet facing the keyboard to use it as a regular notebook. Next is the dock mode where you pull out the tablet and place it in the other direction to serve as an entertainment centre. Finally there is the tablet mode where you can use the PLUS 10 without the keyboard when you commute or want to use it as an e-book reader. One of the intelligent aspects of the PLUS 10 is its 4G LTE equipped keyboard. Instead of fitting the tablet with a clunky cellular module, Alcatel has put the 4G LTE module in the keyboard and given it tethering capabilities so that it can communicate with the Wi-Fi equipped tablet.

As the name suggests, the PLUS 10 has a 10.1-inch IPS panel HD (1280x800) resolution display with 10 point multi-touch capabilities. Underneath the hood we find an Intel Atom Z8350 chipset that houses a 1.92GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM entrusted with the task of running Windows 10, the full fledged desktop version. The internal memory stands at 32 GB and you can use microSD cards of up to 64GB to expand that storage. Since it’s a 2-in-1 device, the PLUS 10 has been equipped with two cameras. We can find a 5MP camera on the rear and a 2MP camera on the front. Another smart thing about the PLUS 10 is the existence of two batteries, one on the tablet and one on the keyboard. We find a 5,830mAh battery on the tablet and a 2,580mAh on the keyboard taking the total battery capacity to 8,410mAh which can power the PLUS 10 for 8 hours.

It’s nice to see that Alcatel has included USB, microUSB and microHDMI ports on the PLUS 10 along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The PLUS 10 will be sold in metallic silver, matte white, matte volcano black and warm gray leather variants in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa starting from June 10 at an as yet undisclosed price.
