The realization of time crystals could easily be the top discoveries of our times. Just like a perpetual machine; the time crystal keeps altering its state - but without any loss of energy. Team of researchers at Google, Stanford and Princeton have demonstrated such time crystal for the first time using Google's quantum computer.

These time crystals define a new category of phases of matter - like water or ice; which are in thermal equilibrium. However, the time crystals have a novel, 'out-of-equilibrium' phase - with order and stability despite being in an excited and evolving state.
