World Trade Center Redevelopment : Rise Of The Fallen!

It's almost a decade since New Yorkers have tried to live with a bequest that attracts visitors from all around the world to the Financial District site, usually cited as Ground Zero. Although property developers are trying to restore the nearby Battery Park neighborhood with frozen rents and cut-price apartments, stakeholders passed two years before finalizing Daniel Libeskind's design as the master plan for a new complex of buildings.

As of late, what remained a ghastly bruise on the landscape of lower Manhattan is at present an engaging construction site, surrounding seven towers, a performing arts centre and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. This is a joint project involving everyone from Norman Foster to Frank Gehry and Fumihiko Maki. The World Trade Centre has reportedly employed more than 3000 people making it way before the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

Bill Baroni,  the deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says that a new transportation hub will also make  the World Trade Centre "a grand central station". Till 2014, 11 subway lines will connect with trains to New Jersey and a ferry terminal, turning a site that was largely avoided by New Yorkers into a transit gateway. So basically, it's a redevelopment of the whole city, if you come to think of it. The Port Authority has supervised construction of the World Trade Centre from 2006. The One World Trade Center, earlier referred to as the "Freedom Tower", will be the tallest building in the world when completed in 2013.  541 metres high, it will rise high above the current skyline, providing visitors unexcelled views from the 100th and 101st floors. It will also constitute a citadel of high-rise safety, within its concrete-core shear walls, there will even be an on-site police command centre. Baroni #-Link-Snipped-#, "They tell us that when it's done, you'll be able to see the curvature of the Earth from the top."

Well, we are eagerly awaiting the launch of this imposing structure. And if you seek more details about the program, do visit the following website : #-Link-Snipped-#
