KenJacksonAs I grew up, I began to notice how extremely well the action of some cartoons, especially "Tom and Jerry", matched the orchestral music that played. It wasn't until much later that I realized my assumption was probably backward--the cartoonists likely wrapped the action around the music. I find that detail in the thinking of my mind-as-a-child amusing.
Also there's a detail about the name "Tom and Jerry" that I've always wondered. During the world wars, the British and other English speakers referred to a German as a "Gerry", pronounced like Jerry. And I think I've read that Germans referred the British as "Toms". So I wonder if the name for the cartoon conflict was inspired by the real conflict.
