Tecnalia Gets Humanoid Robot Hiro To Work Alongside People!

The man and machine teaming may now be looked upon in an entirely different light, when the research centre Tecnalia Research & Innovation is commencing a new phase in the European industry the first robot skillful enough of working alongside humans. The two intentions include: improving safety standard of the workers, and bettering the international market stand. Here's where the Japanese robot Hiro enters the play.

Facilitated by Tecnalia, the robot Hiro has had its first trip out of Japan. For a long while, Japan has been formulating this technology looking upon it as "protected national heritage" which it hesitated to share beyond its boundaries. But now that Tecnalia has earned its faith, Hiro shall be worked upon further and sent to companies all around the globe, with the first one being sent to Europe. The thing that stands out regarding Hiro is that it is a social robot i.e. it is made to share workspace with workers in a totally safe environment, and if at all it makes a physical contact with a human being, it shall stop immediately. Also, robots shall carry out the tasks termed 'risky' by humans, taking their safety to a much greater dimension.
