Symantec Announces Data Loss Prevention Solution For Tablets

Symantec Corp has announced its first data loss prevention solution for tablets. The company aims to monitor and protect sensitive data on tablet computers through its loss prevention solution. Originally for Apple iPad, Symantec's Data Loss Prevention solution provides the users with content-aware protection. This translates to protection from critical data leaking through web communication and will also act for personal and corporate mails along with normal tablets. The tool will help organise and check the flow of data from tablets. The Data Loss Prevention Solution comes packed with other security measures too including full disk encryption and server solutions.

Symantech Service To Prevent Data Loss From Tablets

Symantec comes out with this tool after it surveyed and reported that how mobile computing has increasingly posed a threat to data security. The idea here is to provide freedom to organizations to work with their personal or corporate data and avoid any confidential data to leak by monitoring the transmission of data from the devices. The tablet software will be in sync with Symantec's PGP viewer for iOS which allows the employees of organizations with PGP Universal Server to send, receive and view encrypted messages on the iOS platform. Android support will also be rendered for the same. Symantec is expected to deliver its "first comprehensive data loss prevention" solution by early 2012 for Apple's iPad.
